west
1. Lakers- They basically switched ariza for artest. Andrew bynum is improving drastically and they have young talent improving in brown, vujacic, walton, and farmar. Plus a dynamic duo in kobe and gasol. If they dont get odom back they are number 2 behind dallas.
2. Mavericks- They got one of the three best players on the planet in Dirk Nowitzki. They aquried 4x allstar shawn marion. The way howard played toward the end of the year and in the playoffs shows your gonna get production out of him, terry is a great scorer and kidd is a walking triple double. Plus barea is a young up and coming player. They also recently added gooden which adds depth and a center who can score on the inside. I think marions ability to defend carmelo,kobe, and roy in the west will help. also he can guard the quick point guards that give kidd trouble, like the way he did for nash. They are a very versatle team with inside game, shooting and multiple scoring weapons.
3. Spurs- They got their big3 back and healthy, plus they added jefferson and mcdycee, and they got clutch shooters in mason and finley. They have improved alot since last year.
4. Blazers- They won 54games last year and every year they automatically get a talent boost because they are all young. Oden and webster will be back, roy is turning into a superstar and andre miller was a nice addition to them. They are going to be hard to beat, especially at home.
5. Nuggets- They fall a bit because they lost klieza, carter and jones, but they got lawson and afflalo. They will be fine aslong as they have billups to keep it all together.
6. Jazz- Great point guard, and a young soon to be allstar in millsap. They will fall abit from whatever boozer trade they try to make but williams and okur plus deep athletic talent can get them in the playoffs.
7. Clippers- If they get iverson, plus they get griffin, kamen, a couple of young pieces from the richardson trade and gordan and thorton are improving.
8. Suns- I think with the hornets falling and houston’s loses and injuries they’ll make it. They’ll have amare back.
East
1.) Magic- They are the deepest team in the east with dwight and gortat as his back up, bass and barnes at the power fowards, lewis and pietrus at the 3, carter and redick at 2 and nelson and johnson at point. They have so much deadly threepoint shooter surrounding howard and the got more athletic and have a go to guy in carter down the stretch.
2. Celtics- They will have KG back, they got daniels, they got rasheed and have powe back, so they’ll be deadly.
2. Cavaliers- They got shaq to match dwight which is great. Moon and parker were nice addition and they still need to adress power foward but overall they are great. They also added powe.
4. Heat- If they get boozer, and odom but if not then no.
5. Hawks- They got crawford who can be a nice 6th man off the bench, their nucleus is just like the blazers because they are young and improving. Also joe johnson is turning into an all nba player.
6. Wizards- Agent 0 is back, they will have haywood back, they got miller and foye. They have alot of weapons if you add butler and jamison to the equation.
7. Pistons- They got gordan and charlie plus they have improving players at the point in bynum and stucky.
8. Bulls- They are 8th because they lost gordan but rose is still great. They need someone who can score on the inside or atleast a big that can hit the jumper. Noah and thomas dont cut it. Either way with their reciliancy i see them picking up alot of upset wins.
